WICE Launches “Go Green with WICE – Driving Biodiversity Resilience” to Restore Mangrove Forests and Promote Biodiversity on World Environment Day

8 Jun 2026

In celebration of World Environment Day, WICE continues to advance its commitment to sustainable business practices through the “Go Green with WICE – Driving Biodiversity Resilience” initiative at the Mangrove Forest Conservation Center, Ban Laem Chabang Community, Chonburi Province. The project aims to restore coastal ecosystems, support biodiversity conservation, and create shared value with local communities.

As an international logistics service provider with maritime transportation as a key component of its business, WICE recognizes the strong connection between long-term business success and the health of marine and coastal resources, which serve as critical foundations for ecosystems, local communities, and economic development.

On 6 June 2026, the Company organized a mangrove restoration activity, planting 400 mangrove trees (including both small-leaf and large-leaf mangrove species). The event was attended by 53 participants, including executives, employees, and stakeholders, who joined efforts to rehabilitate mangrove areas and strengthen coastal protection.

Mangrove forests play a vital role in preventing coastal erosion, providing nursery habitats for marine life, and capturing greenhouse gases, thereby contributing to climate change mitigation. The initiative aligns with the theme of World Environment Day 2026 under the #NowForClimate campaign.

In addition, WICE released 100 Asian sea bass (Barramundi) fingerlings into the conservation area to enhance marine resources and strengthen biodiversity within the coastal ecosystem. Asian sea bass play an important role in maintaining the balance of the food chain and are also a valuable economic species that supports the livelihoods of local fishing communities.

The Ban Laem Chabang mangrove forest serves as an important habitat for a wide range of wildlife, including the White-throated Kingfisher, Mudskippers, and Mangrove Crabs. Restoring mangrove forests therefore goes beyond increasing green space; it also helps preserve natural habitats and maintain the ecological balance of coastal environments for the long term.

Based on reference data related to mangrove ecosystems in Thailand, the 400 mangrove trees planted under this project—with an estimated survival rate of 95%—are expected to sequester approximately 450 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) over a 50-year growth period, or around 9 tCO₂e annually. This highlights the significant potential of Blue Carbon ecosystems in addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The project is also expected to generate positive impacts for more than 2,100 local community members through ecosystem restoration, support for local fisheries, and income generation for businesses in the surrounding area. Furthermore, it promotes collaboration between the private sector and local communities in the stewardship of natural resources. Post-event surveys indicated a participant satisfaction rate of 85%.

This initiative reflects WICE’s CSR in Process approach, which integrates social and environmental responsibility directly into business operations while creating Shared Value for all stakeholders.

WICE remains committed to conducting business in line with sustainable development principles by supporting initiatives that reduce environmental impacts, restore ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and improve community well-being. Through these efforts, the Company aims to contribute to the sustainable growth of the logistics industry while preserving natural resources for future generations.
